LGBTQ Youth

At Dumbledore's Army, a great many of our club members identify as part of the LGBTQ community. That is why we make it one of our top priorities, especially in light of the transphobic tweets by author J.K. Rowling, to take care of our youth and help those who find themselves in difficult situations.

Organizations

Below are some LGBTQ organizations. Consider reading about them and the resources they provide, and how you can help through these organizations.

Our Fundraising

In the past, Dumbledore's Army has fundraised for LGBTQ Youth Organizations such as the Trevor Project by selling Chocolate Frogs and Butterbeer.

This semester, we will be fundraising at each General Body Meeting using the classic game of Penny Wars, and we will be donating 100% of the money raised to the Trevor Project.

Resources

These are just some of the many resources available online.

Feel free to send us some resources you feel are particularly impactful!

1 / LGBTQIA+ Resources from Community Renewal Society

CRS has gathered this list of links to be used as a resource for information, education, and even some entertainment, and to be an encouragement to the LGBTQIA+ community.

2 / ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF LGBT AMERICANS by Movement Advancement Project (MAP)

There are many local, state, and national organizations working to make things better for LGBT people, and change is happening every day.

3 / AN ALLY'S GUIDE TO ISSUES FACING LGBT AMERICANS by Movement Advancement Project (MAP)

An Ally’s Guide to Issues Facing LGBT Americans is a primer introducing the major areas in which unfair laws and stigma create extra burdens for LGBT Americans and prevent them from having the chance to pursue health and happiness, earn a living, be safe in their communities, and serve their country.
